What is WHOIS?

Domain Registration Data

WHOIS provides public information about who registered a domain, when it was created, and when it expires.

Powered by RDAP

We use RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol), the modern successor to traditional WHOIS, for accurate and structured results.

Privacy Compliant

RDAP respects privacy regulations. Personal registrant data is redacted in compliance with GDPR and ICANN policies.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between WHOIS and RDAP?

RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the modern replacement for the legacy WHOIS protocol. It provides structured, machine-readable data over HTTPS, supports internationalization, and includes built-in authentication and access control. Our tool uses RDAP for more reliable and accurate results.

Why is registrant information hidden?

Since the implementation of GDPR and updated ICANN policies, domain registrars are required to redact personal information from public WHOIS/RDAP records. This protects domain owners' privacy while still making essential registration data publicly available.

Which TLDs are supported?

Most common TLDs are supported including .com, .net, .org, .io, .co, .ai, .dev, .app, .tech, .xyz and many more. Some restricted TLDs like .gov, .mil, and .edu are not available for public RDAP lookup.
